Robert Stephens/Director of Tennis...USPTA Elite Professional
Robert now has over 22 years Professional teaching experience.
Coming to Pine Lake Country Club in 2005, Robert has been involved with sports all his life. Tennis became a love at the age of 14, and Robert became a member of the USPTA in 1994 where he achieved an Elite Professional status. Robert has coached several state/regional/nationally ranked juniors, including his sons, Derek and Kendall. Derek played for the University of Tennessee and North Carolina State University. Kendall is currently playing at Seminole State University in Seminole, Oklahoma. Robert has also been involved with the USTA Jr. Player development program in North Carolina, coaching at the 14/Under Area training Center, National Zonals, and Jr Davis Cup. He also has coached high school tennis, and in 1999-2000, Robert coached both Boys/Girls varsity at Providence Day school, as well as spent years coaching in the NC Jr. Team Tennis league. Besides coaching, Robert is still an active player in his own free time. While playing singles, Robert has won several state championships, from Men’s 30’s, 40’s, 45’s and NTRP 5.0 Champion. Robert has been a repeat player in both singles and doubles at the Carolina Cup Championships held yearly where sectionals compete from N.C. Robert has been married to Sherri since 1986 and have 3 children…Derek, Morgan, and Kendall. His hobbies include playing the guitar and driving his red 1980 Corvette. Robert is also an active member of the Carolina Classic Corvette Club.
Nick Sudol/Assistant Tennis Professional...USPTA Professional
Nick is our Jr Tennis Coordinator and has spent many years playing and working in the local tennis community. Nick grew up playing at Weddington Tennis Club, played high school tennis for Providence High then returned to work at Weddington Tennis club, where he became proficient in several areas. Nick helped with court maintenance, teaching all levels of tennis, and helped run several USTA sanctioned tournaments. Nick added to an already impressive resume as he attended Appalachian State University where he made the Deans List and was an Athletic Training student for several sports. Nick was a key team member on several USTA Jr Tennis teams that played for local, regional, and national championships. Nick also helped coach the 14 and under Advanced NC Tennis Championship team in 2005 and won sectionals, he was a playing member of the 18 and under team, and also won the Southern Section Title. In 2004, Nick was the Head Tennis Coach at Weddington Middle School.
Nick is available for private/group lessons and clinics.
